The International Day of Families, held on May 15, celebrates the importance of families, societies and cultures around the world. It acknowledges the inherent strengths of families in shaping up our careers and lives.
At a time when we spend nearly more than half of our time with our families, there’s no exaggeration when we say a `family’ plays a key role in our lives. Whether it is making a critical decision, coping up with a challenge, or sharing the rewards and recognition, life becomes more fulfilling only when we share it with our families. After all, family is the bond of togetherness. It is the support system behind all our endeavors to achieve and accomplish; our foundation to help each other establish an identity. It is our greatest stress-buster; it is our tool to happiness and contentment. Just as the world is changing, so do our priorities. And it is a family that keeps us going.
The International Day of Families is important to us because we at Mahindra Satyam have always stayed together as a family – sharing some of the finest moments or overcoming challenges. It is time for us to celebrate the power of families and the role they play in our lives. |

“You cannot excel in the globalized IT service industry without the strong support of your family . Long hours, working across multiple time zones do take their toll and strong family ties help you get through them. My wife has kept the family ship on an even keel while I travelled extensively on business. Both my daughters are great stress busters. All my worries and anxieties dissolve into thin air once I play / talk with them. My family has been a great source of support through my career”

“My family is my haven. No matter what I do, I know I am always welcome with them. My parents have stood behind me in all my decisions while guiding me gently towards the right path. With my younger siblings I share a bond of friendship and caring; we discuss and share all issues amongst us. I am lucky to have an understanding husband, who treats me as an equal in all aspects. My family is my support group and has always spurred me on to be the best that I can be..”

“My parents have always been supportive , guiding me but ultimately giving me a free hand in taking my life decisions . I am fortunate to have an understanding spouse who endorses my aspirations and spurs me on to achieve them. Year 2009 was tough on the professional front but it is in times like these one understands the role of family as a support system ,not only did they quell my fears but gave me hope that there was light at the end of the tunnel .I cannot thank them enough for always being there for me”

“I firmly believe that a person can be productive at work, only if he gets the necessary support at home. I am fortunate to be married to a person who supports my ambition, yet encourages me to maintain a healthy balance between home and work. That has not just kept me grounded, it has actually helped me become a better professional, as I have learnt to plan my work better in order to ensure that I get the work done while spending enough time with family and friends”

“Hardwork’ builds ‘Wealth’. ‘Patience’ ensures ‘Work-Life Balance’. Each of the highlighted words are my life earnings thus far from four different individuals of my family. I have understood the significance of hard work observing my father since my childhood, while my mother’s virtue of patience prepared me for having a family of my own. My spouse taught me wealth management by saying ‘ensure your money works as hard as you do’ while my little kiddo entered into this world showing me my capability of shouldering more responsibilities thus balancing work and life. In short, my family made me what I am now.”
