A little motivation goes a long way…
15-year old Shambhavi secured 480 out of 600 marks in the 10 th class Board exams conducted in March 2008. Behind this achievement is a story of sheer determination - a determination to succeed.
Shambhavi is the youngest of three children and lives in a slum adjacent to the Old Hyderabad Airport named Anna Nagar, in Secunderabad. Last year, the month of November was celebrated as ‘Children’s Special Month’ by Mahindra Satyam Foundation with more than 200 Mahindra Satyam associates regularly visiting Govt. Schools in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Motivating the students of class 10, helping them set their goals in life was one of the exercises the volunteers took up on a regular basis. During one such session, inspired by our volunteers, Shambhavi declared to her fellow students that her dream in life is to become an Engineer…and started working towards reaching her goal.
Sambhavi’s joy knew no bounds when she was selected into the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT). She attributes her success to the Mahindra Satyam team who mentored and motivated her.
Her teacher Mrs. Nirmala said, “Our school is very proud that she was selected for IIIT from our mandal, despite the fact that we do not have proper infrastructure or teaching aids. The credit definitely goes to Mahindra Satyam Foundation and the M7 team who supported us and the students in many ways. We look forward for the same support this academic year also.”
